Engineer II (Consulting Engineer)

About the job:

This position manages pre-construction design services, which include applying client physical security standards to systems design documents, standards creation and updates. This role requires direct coordination with the project Architectural team, client consultant, and client consulting manager. Each project requires weekly meeting attendance for security systems design, communications design, Civil/Structural/Architectural coordination, internal Aronson Security Group drafting coordination, and it also requires milestone meeting attendance at Kickoff, Schematic Design, Detailed Design, Construction Documents, and Issue For Construction design levels, followed by handover from design to operations.

The Consulting Engineer engages and coordinates other resources to support estimating, engineering, CAD design, specification development, technology assessment, proposal and budget development.

The candidate must be self-motivated, proactive, and possess the demonstrated ability for maintaining depth of expertise in new business process and technical domains. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, written communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Duties:Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

• Collaborates with Sales Team to manage assigned accounts.
• Conducts needs assessments to understand client risk.
• Plans, organizes, directs, controls and finalizes project activities.
• Writes scope of work, coordinates engineering design, CAD drawing development, construction documents, and specifications.
• Investigates and maintains knowledge of client security systems design standards, technology standards, enterprise security functions and processes.
• Co-develops client engineering and design standards.
• Conducts peer reviews and documents recommendations.
• Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of international, national, regional and local construction codes.
• Manages project plan and schedule commitments, ensure plan is integrated and aligned to overall organizational and business strategy.
• Analyzes, removes, and proactively prevents roadblocks across team to meet quality standards, project milestones, and business objectives.
• Determines project costs for design / engineering projects.
• Researches and develops project timelines, deliverables, resources, tasks, and dependencies based on project requirements.
• Tracks project plan events, tasks, dependencies and progress.
• Develops and maintains favorable interaction with decision-making, decision-influencing, and purchasing contacts.
• Investigates and resolves client problems in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate a team spirit in all job related activities and communications with co-workers and clients.
• Oversee sales process, including quoting, billing and profitability.
Qualifications:Qualifications:

Solid understanding of the concepts, theories and consulting processes of engineering and construction management methodology. Have a solid demonstrated proficiency in the use of project management tracking and management tools, including reports and outputs. Must have demonstrated proficiency in engineering in a consulting role with greater than 5 years experience preferably in managing technology projects and a technical staff.

Must be a Professional Leader, work with little supervision and have the ability to adapt quickly and lead.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline; or five years’ related experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience.

Consulting Engineer experience relevant to implementing electronic security system design, engineering and construction management across multiple clients on concurrent projects required or equivalent education and experience.

Skills:

• Ability to read and comprehend contracts and deliver the required scope of work on schedule, on budget, while limiting risk to the company.
• Advanced experience or knowledge in engineering and construction management.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret CAD drawings, common computer and technical data.
• Ability to respond pro-actively and diplomatically to inquiries or concerns from customers.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram format and facilitate several abstract and concrete variables.
• Strong knowledge of integrated security concepts, technical architecture and network and server technologies.
• Understanding of resource allocation, scheduling, and planning.
• Excellent verbal / written interpersonal skills with the ability to work positively and collaboratively within a team.
• Ability to work independently and formulate timely and sound decisions.
• Strong PC skills specifically utilizing the MS Office Suite Products (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, Etc.)

Certificates and Licenses:

Project Management Certification and/or coursework is desired.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Must be a Professional Leader, work with limited supervision and have the ability to adapt quickly.
